Akwa Ibom State has forged a strategic partnership with digital solutions company T2 to accelerate technological advancement, nurture startups, and establish a robust innovation ecosystem that will position the state as a digital powerhouse in Nigeria’s South-South region.

Governor Umo Eno announced the collaboration during the Ibom Ignite Conference 2025 in Uyo — a youth-focused event centred on leadership, entrepreneurship, and innovation. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to economic diversification and youth empowerment through technology-driven development.

“We are determined to invest in the future of our youth by promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and human capital development,” the governor said, emphasizing that digital transformation remains central to Akwa Ibom’s inclusive growth strategy.

The partnership is designed to enhance Akwa Ibom’s technology landscape by supporting software development, artificial intelligence (AI) innovation, and startup incubation, while creating pathways for entrepreneurs and small businesses to scale their ventures. It also aligns with the state’s long-term goal of transitioning from an oil-dependent economy to one driven by knowledge, innovation, and human talent.

T2’s Chief Executive Officer lauded Akwa Ibom’s growing tech potential, describing it as “immense.” He noted that with consistent investment and collaboration, the state could evolve into a leading hub for software solutions, AI applications, and digital enterprises. “Human capital, not oil, will define the state’s future,” he added.

The Ibom Ignite Conference featured keynote addresses, panel sessions, and pitch competitions for emerging innovators, alongside a T2 customer forum aimed at improving user experience and service delivery. Organisers hailed the event as a pivotal moment in positioning Akwa Ibom as a regional centre for tech-driven entrepreneurship and digital transformation.

For MSMEs and young innovators, the state’s expanding focus on technology offers vast opportunities for business growth, market access, and job creation in sectors like software development, data analytics, and digital solutions. With partnerships like this, Akwa Ibom is laying the foundation for a thriving innovation hub that empowers youth, attracts investment, and fuels sustainable economic growth.
