Federal Ministry of Women Affairs Collaborates with Kudimata to Launch EmpowerHER Initiative Targeting the Empowerment of 10 Million Nigerian Women by 2030

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has joined forces with Kudimata Nigeria Limited to roll out the EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme — a comprehensive nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening the financial, digital, and entrepreneurial competencies of women across Nigeria.

To date, more than 250,000 women have already enrolled in the programme, which seeks to reach 10 million beneficiaries by the year 2030 through structured training, mentorship opportunities, and access to tools that promote financial inclusion.

Speaking during the official launch event in Abuja, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, described the initiative as a key component of the Federal Government’s agenda to drive women’s economic advancement and foster inclusive national development.

“True empowerment begins with understanding. Financial literacy enables women to confidently manage their resources, seize opportunities, and shape their future,” Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated.

She further highlighted that the programme aligns closely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, adding that financial and digital literacy would henceforth serve as the foundation for all empowerment programmes coordinated by the ministry.

The Minister reiterated the government’s dedication to building a sustainable, transparent, and measurable empowerment framework capable of delivering tangible social and economic impact across all 774 local government areas of the country.

Also speaking at the event, Kathleen Erhimu, Founder of Kudimata Nigeria Limited, emphasized that EmpowerHER represents a national movement focused on democratizing financial knowledge and promoting women’s participation in economic activities.

“Every Nigerian woman — whether working in an office, trading in the market, farming, or running a business — deserves access to the knowledge, opportunities, and confidence required to build wealth and take charge of her economic journey,” Erhimu said.

She explained that Kudimata would deploy digital learning tools and community-based engagement strategies to ensure that women in rural and underserved areas are not left behind, providing equal access to training and resources.

Through the EmpowerHER Financial Literacy Programme, participants will receive comprehensive guidance on savings, investment, entrepreneurship, and digital finance, equipping them with the skills needed to establish sustainable businesses and contribute meaningfully to national development.

By 2030, the initiative aims to nurture a generation of financially independent female entrepreneurs, positioning Nigeria as a model for inclusive economic empowerment and gender equality across Africa.
