FRSC to Launch Upgraded Driver’s Licence, Number Plate System to End Delays Nationwide

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has revealed plans to introduce an upgraded and enhanced system for processing driver’s licences and vehicle number plates nationwide before the end of October 2025.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the upgraded platform aims to accelerate processing, minimise waiting periods, and strengthen data accuracy as part of FRSC’s wider technological drive to modernise its operations.

The Corps Marshal stated that the improved production capacity will enable the agency to clear all pending driver’s licences before mid-November 2025. He added that a robust framework has been deployed to maintain increased efficiency and permanently address the delays that have previously disrupted service delivery nationwide.

Reaffirming the Corps’ dedication to efficiency, transparency, and prompt service delivery—especially in licence and number plate issuance—the Corps Marshal voiced concern over the 206,000 printed driver’s licences still unclaimed nationwide. He urged applicants to visit their designated centres to retrieve their documents.

“We have intensified 24-hour operations to eliminate the backlog of driver’s licence production nationwide. Out of 800,000 pending licences, 400,000 have been printed, but 206,000 remain uncollected,” he explained.

He further highlighted that the significant drop in the backlog was achieved through the relentless efforts of FRSC staff, many of whom extended their working hours to meet production targets.

The Corps Marshal praised the dedication of personnel at various production centres and expressed optimism that the agency’s renewed efforts will soon stabilise licence production and completely eliminate delays.

This initiative represents another milestone in FRSC’s ongoing digital transformation journey aimed at enhancing service delivery, accountability, and ease of access for motorists across Nigeria.
