The Future of Energy Conference 2026 Innovation Challenge has officially opened applications, inviting young African innovators to present solutions addressing the continent’s energy needs. The initiative aims to support scalable ideas while connecting participants to funding and industry stakeholders.

Overview of the Innovation Challenge

Focus Areas and Objectives

The programme is designed to identify practical and sustainable energy solutions that can drive long-term impact. It targets innovations in:

  • Sustainable energy access
  • Clean cooking solutions
  • Circular economy systems
  • Lithium-ion battery development

Selected participants will present their ideas at the final pitch event scheduled for August 25 and 26, 2026, in Accra, Ghana.

Programme Structure and Tracks

Two Key Tracks

The Innovation Challenge features two distinct pathways:

  • Pan-African Low Carbon Innovation Track
  • Focuses on solutions in power systems, digital energy, and industrial energy
  • Afro-Hackathon Track
  • Centers on lithium-ion battery innovation, including design and applications

Participants will go through multiple evaluation stages before advancing to the final pitch.

Eligibility / Requirements
