Global tech-enabled platform, Glovo, has officially introduced its flagship Glovo Academy initiative in Nigeria, reinforcing its commitment to equipping entrepreneurs and small business owners with the knowledge and tools required to scale successfully in the digital economy.
Targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with strong growth potential, Glovo Academy delivers a blend of in-person and virtual training sessions centered on innovation, business expansion, and capacity building. Following a successful pilot in Lagos, the programme is set to extend to Abuja and other key cities, granting entrepreneurs nationwide access to world-class learning experiences and practical strategies for sustainable growth.
Speaking at the Lagos launch hosted at Ikeja Town Square, Glovo’s Longtail Lead in Nigeria, Mojisola Aluko-Olokun, explained that the academy mirrors the company’s mission to drive impact beyond technology by creating opportunities for small businesses and supporting social and economic progress.
“At Glovo, we know that thriving small businesses build stronger communities,” Aluko-Olokun said. “The Glovo Academy was created to inspire innovation, strengthen entrepreneurial capacity, and connect SMEs with the right opportunities to expand. We look forward to scaling this programme across Nigeria as we continue championing entrepreneurship in every region.”

Designed to be highly practical, the training modules provide SMEs with actionable insights to overcome business challenges, harness digital tools, and compete effectively in fast-changing markets. During one of the sessions, Tosin Ajose, Founding Partner of DealHQ Africa, delivered a deep-dive on strategies for scaling and sustaining growth. She emphasised that transformation must start with entrepreneurs themselves—by cultivating agility, committing to continuous improvement, and building resilience from within.
Ajose also underscored the need for entrepreneurs to invest deliberately in people, build strong and adaptable teams, establish functional data systems, and gain a sharper understanding of customer needs and value propositions. According to her, these are non-negotiable pillars for long-term competitiveness and success.
Through Glovo Academy, SMEs are expected to gain the knowledge, skills, and networks to accelerate their growth journeys. By equipping small businesses to embrace digital transformation and strengthen competitiveness, the initiative aims to energise Nigeria’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and reinforce SMEs as the backbone of inclusive and sustainable economic development.
