IHS Nigeria, in partnership with the Ilorin Innovation Hub, has showcased 19 startups at its first-ever Demo Day held in Ilorin, Kwara State, in a move aimed at accelerating innovation and attracting investment into Nigeria’s digital economy.
The event, themed “The Convergence,” brought together investors, venture capitalists, corporate partners, and media representatives to review emerging startups building solutions across agriculture, health-tech, green energy, lifestyle, and digital services.
IHS Nigeria, a member of IHS Holding Limited and one of the world’s largest independent telecom infrastructure operators, said the initiative reflects its commitment to supporting digital transformation and innovation-led growth in Nigeria.
The Ilorin Innovation Hub, a joint initiative between the Kwara State Government and IHS Nigeria, began operations in February 2025. Its incubation and accelerator programmes are managed by Co-creation Hub and Future Africa, providing startups with mentorship, funding access, and market support.
According to the organisers, the Demo Day also served as a progress review of the hub’s first year of operations, particularly its role in supporting early-stage founders developing technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges.
Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Officer of IHS Nigeria, Mohamad Darwish, said the partnership underscores the company’s focus on using digital infrastructure to drive economic development.

He noted that the quality and diversity of startups presented reflect the strength of Nigeria’s innovation ecosystem when properly supported.
Also speaking, Managing Director of the Ilorin Innovation Hub, Temi Kolawole, said the platform was created to reduce geographical barriers and ensure that entrepreneurial talent outside major cities can access opportunities.
She explained that the 19 showcased startups demonstrate what is possible when talent is combined with structured support systems.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism that the startups would attract funding, scale their operations, and form partnerships capable of expanding their impact beyond local markets.
The initiative highlights ongoing efforts by IHS Nigeria and the Kwara State Government to strengthen Nigeria’s digital economy through innovation hubs, private sector collaboration, and startup development programmes.
