Aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has initiated the training of 41,307 unskilled and unemployed Nigerians across the country as part of the second phase of the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative (RHEI 2).
The formal flag-off ceremony was held at Ibadan North Local Government Area in Oyo State, with the NDE State Coordinator, Mr. Oke Paul Adegboye, representing the Director-General of NDE, Silas Ali Agara.
Adegboye highlighted that the training program will cover over 30 skill areas, spanning vocational, entrepreneurial, agricultural, ICT, and public works sectors. He emphasized that the initiative is a strategic effort to tackle the pervasive issue of mass unemployment in Nigeria.
He further noted that the first phase of the program, which was launched nationwide on December 6, 2024, successfully trained 32,692 Nigerians in demand-driven skills across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). Building on the lessons from the initial phase, the directorate has now digitized its processes through a comprehensive online registration portal featuring scalable backends and geofencing capabilities.

“This advancement has enhanced the transparency, fairness, and equity of NDE’s processes, while also providing the agency with a credible and reliable database,” the DG explained.
The NDE also confirmed that trainees were selected from every state of the federation, including the FCT, with at least four participants drawn from each of Nigeria’s 8,809 electoral wards, ensuring broad representation and inclusiveness.
The agency further noted that the Renewed Hope Employment Initiative is structured not only to equip participants with practical skills but also to foster entrepreneurship and stimulate job creation within communities nationwide.
