Seplat Energy Plc, in collaboration with its Joint Venture partner, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited, has disbursed a total of N18 million to secondary school students from Edo and Delta States through the 2025 edition of the PEARLs Quiz Competition. The announcement was made at the grand finale, which took place on Saturday in Asaba, Delta State.
The Pioneer Education Centre from Edo State clinched the top prize, receiving N10 million, while Notre Dame College, Uzoro, Delta State, and Eucharistic Heart of Jesus Model College, Benin City, Edo State, secured the second and third positions, earning N5 million and N3 million respectively.
The PEARLs Quiz—an acronym for Promoting Exceptional and Respectable Leaders—is a signature Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiative of Seplat Energy. It is designed to foster academic excellence, stimulate critical thinking, and cultivate leadership qualities among students across the company’s host communities.
During the event, Seplat Energy’s Director of External Affairs and Social Performance, represented by the General Manager, Government Relations, applauded the contestants for their remarkable performance and urged them to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits. She emphasized that since its inception in 2012, the programme has consistently inspired young scholars while reinforcing Seplat’s commitment to strengthening community relations and educational development.
“While one school may be taking home the grand prize today, every participant here is a winner,” she remarked, noting that the knowledge, teamwork, and confidence gained from the competition would contribute significantly to the students’ personal and professional growth.

The ceremony also featured a STEAM Innovation Challenge, where participants presented creative and solution-driven projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—underscoring Seplat’s commitment to driving innovation and experiential learning among the youth.
Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director of NNPC Exploration and Production Limited, a representative from the Corporate Communication Department commended the students’ intellectual brilliance and passion, describing their performance as a reflection of the region’s expanding educational potential.
In his goodwill message, the Delta State Governor—represented by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Community Support Services, and Girl Child Development—commended Seplat Energy and its Joint Venture partner for their unwavering dedication to education. He described the PEARLs Quiz as a shining example of impactful corporate social responsibility that inspires excellence and empowers future leaders.
The Commissioner further noted that the initiative not only celebrates academic success but also aligns with the state government’s vision to nurture a generation of confident, innovative, and responsible leaders. “Today, we are not merely witnessing a competition,” she stated, “but celebrating the intelligence, creativity, and potential of our young people—the true future of Edo, Delta, and Nigeria at large.”
