The Surulere Local Government Area of Lagos State has supported 304 residents through an MSME empowerment initiative, providing cash grants and business equipment to strengthen small businesses and improve livelihoods.
The programme was unveiled during the council’s 2026 Empowerment Programme themed “Building Capacity for Sustainable Growth,” with participation from community leaders, market groups, and other stakeholders.
Chairman Sulaimon Bamidele Yusuf said the initiative is aimed at expanding economic opportunities, supporting small enterprises, and improving welfare at the grassroots level.
Beneficiaries received financial support and equipment, including deep freezers, sewing machines, generators, and other tools to enhance productivity and business operations.

Officials noted that the intervention is expected to boost local economic activity, support business growth, and create more income opportunities within the community.
The council added that the programme is part of a broader strategy to promote inclusive growth and strengthen MSMEs, with plans to sustain similar initiatives in the future.
